But for those who saw his knock of 23 against F&HCC, in a difficult situation most admit he is progressing as a cricketer.
Captain's Comments:

Rob Ablett
Right hand bat/ Slow Right hand bowler
Batting ave: n/a
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks: 0
H.S.= 1*

Ablett snr made just the one appearance which resulted in him facing one ball and acheiving his H.S. of one not out.
Captain's Comments:

Mike Ainscoe
Right hand opening bat/ occasional med/slow seam bowler
Batting ave: 17.18 (189 from 11)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 46

Mike was always going to find it difficult to better last seasons effort which saw him claim the batting gong. However, at the mid point of the season it seemed very possible. But the family holiday saw a watershed moment to his season as the only thing he managed after a six or so week absent was a sore ankle from the Robbies defeat. This led to him missing another game and so he was never in a postion to defend his title. His H.S. of 46 against the bigger boys of Greenmount III was at times slightly fortuatous, but never the less a fine innings.
Captain's Comments:

Frank Brockway
Right hand mid order experience bat/ Right hand ‘on the spot’ seam/swing bowler
Batting ave: 22.3 (134 from 9)
Bowling ave: 11.07 (14 for 155)
No.of ducks:
H.S.= 50*

Frank, like Mike had a habbit of disappearing at different times throughout the season. When he was there he was always in the action with bat and ball. His ability to 'put it on the spot' saw him take wickets for very few runs. With the bat he showed his class most of the time including a match winning 50 not out against Failsworth. Winner of the 'Life in the 2nds Awards' All Rounder of the year prize.
Captain's Comments:

Matt Cotton (Osama)
Right hand ‘tail end slogger’ bat/ Right hand ‘nippy wicker taker’ seam bowler
Batting ave: 5 (5 from 2)
Bowling ave: 8.50 (8 for 68)
No.of ducks: 0
H.S.= 5

Two games played 8 wickets taken. Cotters guested twice and his pace seem to do the biz. Unfortunatley the 1st wanted him back. Usual form with the bat however.
Captain's Commnets:

Graham Fletcher (Dr Doom)
Right hand ‘guide the tail home’ bat/ Right hand ‘almost always on the spot’ seam/swing bowler
Batting ave: 12 (168 from 14)
Bowling ave: 13.90 (21 for 292)
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 29

Dr Doom claims the 2nd team bowling prize to go with his batting prize of two seasons ago. A good year considering the health problems suffered at the end of last season. Looking forward to more positive banter from Fletcher Snr next season!
Captain's Comments:

Nick Fletcher
Left hand ‘in the runs this year’ bat/ Right hand ‘attempted leg spin’ bowler
Batting ave: 17.67 (212 from15)
Bowling ave: 15.47 (15 for 232)
No.of ducks:
H.S.= 50

Fletcher Jnr scored his first half century and generally had an excellent season with the bat and just missed out on the batting prize. With the ball his leg spin reapt 15 victims. A fair return. He has also entered the world of computers and created a tsjcc 2nd XI website world.
Captain's Comments:

Rob Holt
Right hand ‘No.11’ Bat/ Right hand ‘wicket taking’ seam/swing bowler
Batting ave: 4.2 (21 form 11)
Bowling ave: 15.30 (46 for 704)
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 16*

Superman, as he has been called before today had a 'super' season with the ball taking 46 wickets in league and cup! Won the 2nd XI feilding prize depite a drop in his own high standards.
He claimed the best bowling performance and Mr 'Knock'em over' prizes at the 'Life in the 2nds Awards' curry night.
Captain's Commnets:

Ste Horner
Right hand lower order bat/ Left arm ‘net’ bowler
Batting ave: 3 (3 from 3)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 2*

Mr 'Bucket hands' award winner, Ste played when required and when he did the ball seem to be wizzing his way. I don't recall a droped catch but do remember him holding on to a couple of stingers. Not much of a danger with the ball except himself in the nets!!! With the bat...well the stats speak for themselves.
Captain's Comments:

Nick Hudson
Right hand ‘quick single taking’ bat/ Right hand slow seam bowler
Batting ave: 9 (9 from1)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks 0
H.S.= 9

Mr Invisable for the 2's this season with just the one outing (even missed the end of season curry and his award of Mr Invisable... how apted). In fairness his absents were mostly down to him filling in in the 1st but still.......... lets hope we see more of him in team two next season.
Captain's Comments:

Stu Hunter
Right hand top order bat/ occasional wicket keeper
Batting ave: 15.73 (173 from 13)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks
H.S.= 53

Stu ' i'm off to France, see you in a couple of weeks' Hunter had a mixed season. He started out with some big hitting and finished being luck if he made contact with the ball. As the season progressed Stu went from hitting 53 against Cheetham Hill to a number of ducks towards the end of the season. It would seem that the nearer he came to buying a house in France the less and less runs he managed. Perhaps a case of mind not on the job, maybe so, but if we end up going to France to play some cricket etc..... then i'm sure it was worth it!!!!
Captain's Comments:

Matt Hunt
Right hand bat/ Left hand bowler?
Batting ave: 7.67 (23 from 4)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 10*

New to the club this season, Matt has shown some big swinging with the bat..... hopefully he will connect bat with ball a little more often next year. In the four starts he made, Matt showed promise in the field and possibilities with the bat. Apparently a left hand bowler it remains to see his ability!
Captain's Comments:

Mick Jones
Right hand opening bat/ wicket keeper (of a fashion)
Batting ave: 18 (324 from 19)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 40

Mr 'TSJ Team 2'. Mick has had an excellent season with the bat ending with him winning the batting prize after 20 years of trying!! Despite numerous run outs (some his own fault...the rest Smifffffy's) Mr Jones has led from the front and been consitantly good opener for the team. In stark contrast his wicket keeping has been, well same as usual. He gives his all behind the stumps with varing degrees of sucess. However he is the best we have got (After seeing shunts this year) and he is a top bloke who can take all manner of abuse. Just as well really!!!
Captain's Comments:

Bobby Loomba
Right hand bat/ standin keeper
Batting ave: 8 (16 from 2)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 11

Just the two apperances for TSJCC and one against TSJCC (played for Greenmount). Bobby is Bobby and is a grat charcter. On the cricketing front he is getting to old to dive about so needs to master that slog sweep if he is to become a specialist mid-order bat!
Captain's Comments:

Danny Moriarty
Right hand ‘promising in the nets, yet to deliver’ bat/ Right hand seam bowler
Batting ave: 2.23 (29 from 15)
Bowling ave: 27.20 (5 for 136)
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 10

Young Danny at the start of the season was impressing everyone with his attacking batting style that seemed to be effective. However in reality his form in the nets failed to be transfered to the cricket pitch propper. He is young and has plenty of time to improved but it would appear that this season has proved to be a bit of a false dawn for him.
In contrast his bowling surprised everyone (i think) with him taking a few wickets and even opening the attack on a couple of occasions. One note Danny might want to forget is his award for the leading duck collector!
Captain's Comments:

Ste Moriarty (Mozza)
Right hand ‘six or out’ bat/ Right hand destructive swing bowler
Batting ave: 32 (64 from5)
Bowling ave: 11.47 (15 for 172)
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 34*

If Ste had played more game St.Johns might have finished higher in the league. That is the opinon of myself. The tight bowling that Ste brings is always going to be missed by any team and I believe it was. His ability to come in down the order and hit some quick runs would also have been a bonus. Lets hope the back holds out and things in general improve so Ste can be heared more often screaming .....DANNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! again
Captain's Comments:

Dan Roberts
Right hand ‘ happy if I hit it’ bat/ no idea if he does bowl!
Batting ave: 3 (6 from 3)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 4*

Dan Robert was the specialist last mintue replacement for Totty this season. Batting and bowling were at best suspect, but his catching, espeically in the deep was excellent!!!
Capatin's Comments:

Andy Schofield (Scoffer)
Right hand driving bat/ Right hand tight seam/swing bowler
Batting ave: 9.3 (28 from 3)
Bowling ave: 10 (6 for 60)
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 18

Scoffer returned to the fold towards the end of the season after a year of family duties. The bowling was tight as ever and that familar driving shot play. Scoffer also managed to run himself out and Dr Doom, careful Andy he never forgets!!!!!!!!
Captain's Comments:

Paul Scundric (Skudders)
Right hand ‘natural talent’ bat/ Right hand seam bowler
Batting ave:
Bowling ave:
No. of ducks:
H.S.=

Just the one cameo apperance from Mr Scundric which saw him in his usual confident self.
Captain's Comments:

Shalom Srirangam
Right hand tail end bat/ Right hand swing bowler
Batting ave: 5 (10 from 3)
Bowling ave: 12.88 (8 for 103)
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 9*

New to St.Johns for the season 2005, Shalom impressed with his medium pace bowling claiming 8 wickets. Work commitments limted his apperances but hopeful we will see more of him next year and some of his interesting batting style.
Captain's Comments:

Andy Smith (captain)
Right hand pintch hitter bat/ Occasional Right hand full toss bowler
Batting ave: 15 (180 from 180)
Bowling ave: 33.6 (5 for 168)
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 45*
Captain's Comments:

Ste Smith (Shagggger)
Right hand ‘lightening fast between the wicket’ bat/ professional fielder
Batting ave:
Bowling ave:
No.of ducks:
H.S.=
Captain's Comments:

Phil Yates (Rowdy)
Right hand ‘losing it’ bat/ Right hand ‘please don’t let him bowl skip’ bowler
Batting ave: 7.28 (131 from 19)
Bowling ave: n/a
No. of ducks:
H.S.= 28
Captain's Comments:
